The Knights took on Guyana Amazon Warriors in their first home game at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. TKR were back home after a while and they put on a stunning display for their fans. The Queen’s Park Oval saw a magnificent game of cricket as the home fans waved the red for Trinbago.
The Knights were put in to bat first and they started off cautiously against the new ball. Initially, the openers faced tricky conditions to bat and took the conservative approach. The Knights lost their openers early and then Lorcan Tucker who has been extremely consistent throughout the tournament, steadied the ship. Akeal Hosein was promoted up the order, and he delivered immediately as he stitched a great partnership alongside Tucker to stabilize the TKR innings. Skipper Polly contributed yet again with a quick-fire innings and Akeal went on to bat through the innings. TKR finished on 172, with Akeal top-scoring with an innings of 44 not out.
While defending the total, the Knights bowlers showed a lot of composure and resistance. Andre Russell continued to pick up wickets with the new ball and continued to impress with his pace. Ali Khan continued his great form and managed to pick up 2 crucial wickets. TKR kept fighting hard till the last over yet were unable to defend the total. The Knights will now reassess and hope to make a strong comeback in their next game.
