The Knights took on Guyana in their final game of this season of CPL. TKR went into the game with a lot of confidence and on the back of commanding performances. This was a much-anticipated one because this was a rehearsal of Qualifier 1 which is to be played later this week. Both the teams were looking to learn about their opponents and get important tricks up their sleeves.
TKR were put into bat first by Guyana on a pitch which looked to have some assistance for the bowlers. The Knights made a lot of changes to their line-up and rested a few senior players to test out their bench strength. Mark Deyal gave the Knights a commanding start as he has throughout the season. Post that TKR lost both openers in quick succession, it was Walton and the debutant Keacy Carty who stabilized the innings. Carty, who was batting for the first time this season, went on to play a stunning innings of 83 which included 7 fours and 4 sixes. The debutant batted through the innings, powering the team to a fighting total of 176.
While defending the score, the TKR bowlers yet again displayed a lot of accuracy and aggression. They maintained a lot of pressure on the opposition batters and looked to keep a hold of the game. Akeal picked up the dangerous wicket of Saim Ayub early, and the momentum was on TKR’s side. However, some good partnerships took Guyana to victory. The Knights tried their best and fought hard but fell short. The Knights have a lot of positives to take from this game and they will reassess, analyze and come back stronger in the playoffs.
