Former Legendary pace sensation to mentor Trinbago Knight Riders Women in WCPL 2024

Jhulan Goswami has joined the Trinbago Knight Riders as mentor for the women's team for the upcoming WCPL 2024. We caught up with the former legendary cricketer to candidly chat on various topics - her mentorship style, conversations with Shah Rukh Khan, the legacy of TKR, her intent towards contributing for the team and much more. 

How does it feel joining the Knight Riders franchise, as TKR Women’s mentor?

“It’s an honor to join such a quality franchise. They have done so well in India and around the world. To join TKR Women at the WCPL is a pleasure. Thanks to KKR management for thinking about me as a mentor and I’m really looking forward to participating in this tournament.”

Tell us about your conversations with Shah Rukh Khan and our CEO Venky Mysore…

“Meeting King Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) is always special. His passion and support for Knight Riders is genuinely incredible. The main conversation of me joining TKR Women started with Venky Sir (Venky Mysore). As a management head, the way he takes care of everyone is amazing. I felt really honored by the way both welcomed me and spoke to me. It was really special meeting both Shahrukh sir and Venky sir.”

TKR has been a very successful franchise both in men’s and women’s tournaments. How much are you looking forward to joining and contributing to this franchise?

“I’m really looking forward to joining them. The value that they bring for the local, domestic is tremendous. They have been winners in the inaugural WCPL tournament and everyone knows their quality. I’m really excited to join such a successful franchise and looking forward to contributing to them.”

What is your message to the TKR fans?

“Please come out in big numbers to support the team. We will be trying our best to do well in the tournament and entertain all of our fans.”

TKR Women will play four league matches (vs Barbados Royals and Guyana Amazon Warriors) between August 22-27. The final is scheduled for August 29 in BLCA, Tarouba.
