The Knights took on the Barbados Royals in their second home game of the season at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad. It was the second time these two sides were facing each other this season and the TKR women were looking to settle the score against the Royals. This much-anticipated game turned out to be an exciting one as the Knights clinched a close victory.
The Knights won the toss and elected to bat first and aimed to put runs on the board. The openers gave a solid start to the home team as Marie Kelly came all guns blazing at the top of the order to score a quick-fire innings. Kycia Knight along with her skipper Deandra Dottin forged a great partnership to provide stability to the innings. The World Boss Dottin continued on to bat through the innings and held on end together while Mignon du Preez came in to smash a fiery knock of 36 of just 23 balls to power the TKR women to a total of 155.
While defending the total, the Royals openers got off to a flying start but it was the debutant Samara Ramnath who provided the crucial breakthrough as she got the big wicket of Hayley Matthews. Post that, the Knights continued to pick wickets and achieved a stranglehold over the opposition batters. Such an accurate display of bowling caused a colossal collapse for the Royals as the TKR women clinched victory by 13 runs. The Knights will now be looking to continue the winning momentum and bag a win in their next game to qualify for the finale.
