Pooran and Roy steer TKR to the highest successful run-chase at the BLCA Stadium as they seal a tremendous victory | TKR vs SKNP Match Report

The Trinbago Knight Riders returned to the iconic Brian Lara Cricket Academy Stadium to battle against the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots. This clash was a much anticipated one after these two teams had a great contest previously when they came up against each other. TKR aimed to get back to winning ways and looked to pick up their 5th win of the season to climb up to the top of the table. The fans were eager to come out to support their team and turn the BLCA into a sea of red.

TKR opted to bowl first on a pitch where they were playing for the first time this season and aimed to understand the nature of the wicket by bowling first. As usual, Akeal Hosein picked up a wicket in the first over itself and TKR aimed to put pressure on the SKNP batters and pick up a few more wickets in the powerplay itself. However, Kyle Mayers and Andre Fletcher took on the attack straightaway and stitched a terrific partnership, put SKNP on road to a huge score. Their 100-run stand made things look bleak for TKR, however the bowlers kept faith in their plans and pulled things back. Chris Jordan came in clutch to dismiss both set batters with TKR pulling things back considerably well. At one point, a 200+ score looked inevitable, but skilled death bowling and terrific execution of their plans helped TKR restrict SKNP to a total of 193. It was all upon the batters now to chase down the target on this great batting surface and help TKR clinch the victory.

The TKR openers Jason Roy and Keacy Carty started the run-chase off in great fashion. It was important for the batting side to start well in order to chase down the big total ahead of them. Carty played the perfect foil to Roy, who blasted off at the SKNP bowlers right from the start. Carty fell in an attempt to break the shackles he was in for a while but it brought to crease Nicholas Pooran who started off at a high tempo like always. Both Roy and Pooran smashed the ball to all parts of the ground and displayed a tremendous display of ball-striking. A great partnership of 73 off just 37 balls, made sure TKR were always in control of the run-chase. SKNP got back into the game for a while in the middle overs with quick wickets of Roy, David and a few quiet overs. However, skipper Kieron Pollard came to the crease with a purpose to knock the target off in a hurry. Both him and Pooran unleashed their fury as TKR sealed the game with 9 balls to spare. Pooran finished things off in the perfect way as he bludgeoned it out the ground to help TKR seal the highest successful run-chase at the BLCA stadium. The Knight Riders will be extremely happy to get back to winning ways and they will be aiming to keep this momentum going. With a couple of more home games coming up, TKR will look to capitalize and pick up as many points as they can to stay at the top of the table.
